A demanding operation. A challenging environment. And a strong example of what engineering expertise can deliver under constraints.
During the drilling of one of the candidates well in the Rashadat IOOC Oil Field at 6-1/8” drilling section, a total of 2,017 meters of horizontal drilling was successfully completed within the reservoir section — extending from 2,235 meters to a final depth of 4,252 meters.
The Bottom Hole main Assembly (BHA) included: • 4-3/4” Downhole Motor • 4-3/4” MWD / LWD Full Set • PDC Bit for 6-18” section
Geo Steering and Well Placement services were also delivered online and presented to the client throughout the project.
The project was carried out in the Offshore oil filed. The Petro Danial Kish D&M team contributed its specialized expertise to the execution of the well's directional drilling operations.
Engineering Through Constraints
One of the most challenging aspects of this operation was the equipment and supply limitations. With the planned Rotary Steerable System (RSS) not available when required, our technical team adapted the drilling approach and continued the operation using a Mud Motor-based solution.
Maintaining wellbore trajectory across such an extended horizontal section — particularly within a relatively thin reservoir — required:
For Petro Danial Kish, being part of this achievement reflects what specialized Iranian engineering teams can contribute to complex upstream projects — especially when conditions demand adaptability, precision, and experience.
We are proud to have played our part in this important achievement alongside of the main clients IOOC / PGFK.
